Two meanings

In most cases the bilingual street signs in the village mean the same in Occitan and in French. Here there is a difference. I'm not sure where the French name came from as there are no mimosa trees in this narrow street. The Occitan word, Tarral, is the name of the wind that comes from the land, the north. It's a dry wind, because the rain has already fallen on the mountains, and in summer it is pleasantly cooling. In winter when there is snow on the mountains it can be bitterly cold. Today the north wind is blowing down Carrieira del Tarral, so the Occitan name seems more suited to it.

Occitan class this evening, only the second one of the new year because we have moved rooms and started late this term. I'm finding it hard after a long summer break, but it's fun.
