I need a little space, just on my own.
20 years ago a hairdressers set up in Troon... today it was their twentieth birthday and to celebrate they were doing do's at 1990 prices.
The place was flipping heaving.
I went in at 2.30.... and watched as three blow dries, three colours, and five trims came and went round about me. It was beautifully organised chaos.
Between the noise of hairdryers and people' I was oblivious to everything around me, and sat in a little cocoon of warm air and chatter, and dozed with my eyes open.
I have over-coloured my hair to compensate for the grey. Now my poor hair is practically black, thick with colour on the bottom, slightly redder on top, and grey at the roots.
I have decided to embrace the grey. To be honest, I just cannot be arsed with the four weekly root application, which I never do carefully and leaves me with said dark ends.
We opted for highlights, which would distract from the rootiness of my hair, and lighten the ends.
The top went okay - the bottom was not taking... there was too much colour on already. Another wee coating of bleach and success.
Then the lovely P chopped some of the heavier darkness away, and I am left ... much lighter - both in the heaviness of my Crystaltips hair bounce and the colour of it.
Next time - more lighter, and eventually, I shall be the platinum blonde.
