Seomar Mhic an Toisich
Board of Trustees meeting this afternoon at Sabhal Mor Ostaig - it is very hard to concentrate when this is the view out the window.
This window looks out from a room called Seomar Mhic an Toisich - named after Fearchar MacIntosh a pivotal figure in the development of the "Big Barn at Ostaig" into one of the leading campuses in the new University of the Highlands and Islands.
I was really honoured to be asked to join the Board last year. The current Trustees have a huge responsibility to carry on the work of Gaelic giants like Fearchar and Sir Iain Noble who came up with the concept of tertiary level Gaelic education.
Sir Iain, who passed away in 2010, saw his idea develop into one of the cornerstones of Gaelic development.
SMO has literally taken Gaelic education to a new level and also became a catalyst for economic development in Sleat, Skye and beyond.

Sir Iain and Fearchar were men of great vision. The views out the window of the new Gaelic world they helped to create are grand too.
