Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Super Sunset

When sunset turns in to a performance, I'm mesmerized. Sometimes sunset is silent with little drama and no song. Then there are days like this. The stage glows and the orchestra sounds a fanfare. I'm so glad I was part of the audience.

Our daughter and son-in-law are at the beach cottage in Cayucos and we are thrilled for them and green with envy. Our son-in-law drove down from the San Francisco Bay area where he currently resides and works and our daughter left our city at O-dark-thirty this morning and sent us a text at approximately 9:00 a.m. as she made her exit from the freeway and into the little "cowboy-surfer" town of Cayucos. We posted photos with them back during the holidays with us in Cayucos -- we were so glad that they were together. They have been separated since summer of 2012.

Since Christmas they've had some more difficult days, but then as last weekend ended, they let us know they had been together and that this weekend they would be headed to meet in Cayucos because our son-in-law is going to "re-pipe" the little house for water, gas, and drain pipes to the sewer.

Our son-in-law grew-up in a plumber family and worked himself right out of a plumber job and elevated to the position of Vice President of a large construction company. We doubt that he's done the dirty work of re-piping a house in quite a while, so we are honored and more than pleased that he is going to get dirty to make our little place so much better.

Little-by-little the tiny beach shack, cottage, house (whatever it is) gets better and better. There are numerous things we'd like to do with the inside of the place to make it more comfortable and cuter, but doing a face-lift when the place needs a heart-transplant seems ridiculous. So some time ago our son-in-law told us he'd work on the internal organs and that's what's happening this weekend. At the same time we're hoping that the relationship between our daughter and son-in-law heals a little more. I'll keep you posted on this.

Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
