Lower Wairau Dawn

We enjoyed a red sky this morning. I picked two of our younger Camera Club members, Jo and Ricky, before 6.30am this morning. The sky to the east was lovely when we set out up the Wither Hills to the Rotary Lookout. Although we rushed as fast as we were able, carrying camera gear and tripods, by the time we got to the Lookout most of the red of the dawn sky had dissipated. But there were still some great scenes of the sky, Wairau Plains and hills to capture.
Our foray was cut a little short this morning as low cloud and mist started to roll in from over the sea to the east thus spoiling the light. Today’s image is looking east from the Lookout towards to Port Underwood in the distance. The land in the foreground is the Lower Wairau Plain. There is mist rising from the seashore, a forerunner of the clouds and mist that followed.
