....Seasonal Heaven
Some wish for Spring. Some wish for Autumn. Some long for the holiday season. (But don't get me started on *those* people - the ones who put out their Christmas lights on Oct 20 and organize Christmas-themed community events to take place the second week in November... If you've assumed that I have someone particular in mind, you're a smart cookie.)
I long for college basketball. I love it. I love the competitiveness. I love that at the NCAA level, it's still a team sport. With coaches that coach. I love that achieving "dynasty" status is something real. Not "Yankees-we-have-an-unlimited-budget-so-we-can-buy-new-players-every-year-dynasty". In college basketball a dynasty requires long term commitment on the part of an entire coaching staff, recruiters, alumni, administrators, upperclassmen forgoing the draft and million-dollar paychecks, underclassmen willing to sit the bench and learn from others, and players passing their classes to stay eligible. So many places it could go wrong - so when it goes right its all the more thrilling.
Anyway - college basketball season is here. Caro and I went to the Baylor game, and I hope we can find the time to go to more this season. I don't know how many college basketball games we'll make it to in the coming seasons (Butler and IUPUI in Indy), so I want to make the most of what we have access to now. And while I have no designs of brainwashing Caro into mirroring my bordering-on-neurotic fan status, I hope that by exposing it to her now, she may pick it up later.
Of course, she may balk when I tell her she can't play while wearing jewelry.
*It was a tough choice between two photos. The other one portrayed Caro in her full game-day gear, complete with pink bangles, striped tights, and pink feather purse (courtesy of Evie and Gray), but the lighting wasn't as good.*
(This blipfoto business is great - but it's hard not to be embarrassed about the quality of my photos. My good camera is out of commission, and I'm constantly trashing photos because I'm used to the quality I used to get and can't accept the poor quality of what I have now. I browse through photos from other blippers, and I'm positively humbled. Hmph. )
