Holy Biscuit

Holy Biscuit (Newcastle upon Tyne and Louise MacKenzie art exhibition

This was an interesting exhibition about community, forgotten faces, ancient church relics (organ pieces and pipes), materials, sound and music. Old images, consisting of unknown people from before the first world war, are captured and then translated into sound by mapping the pixels. Each image has a unique sound. The local community is then invited to comment on these, trying to resurrect past conversations with present day technologies.

This reminded me of debates over sociomateriality, technological affordances, constraints and the metaphors of entanglement and imbrication. These concepts can all be found contained in this little exhibition. It makes you think...

In this photo, M adds the scale ! The exhibition is made of old organ pipes.

Interesting :)
