Melville Castle (part 1)

I bought an itison afternoon tea voucher for my mum's Christmas but sadly with my dad being really unwell at the start of the year meant we were quite unorganised in selecting a date for my mum, sister and niece coming down from up North to visit. The conditions also left it being on a Sunday but alas this was not to be :(

BUT

Instead we will go out for a fabulous day and meal elsewhere when they visit and now I have 2 opportunities to eat lots of cake this month!

Part one if this cake adventure was a long overdue with my friend R., who I first met in 2004 when we studied Nursing together. It was great seeing her again and catching up on her news. Looking forward to our trip to Stirling soon & a great relaxing afternoon was just what I was needing :)

As for Melville castle, it was lovely. Loving that it's not dark walls and tartan everywhere, and I'm hoping next time the weather is a bit better to go traipsing around the gardens next time!

There were plenty of yummy cakes to pick from, and we didn't manage to eat everything! I'm not a huge Champagne fan but it too was lovely. My only thing would be having a tea cosy on the tea pot as we chatted for so long that it got cold by the time we topped up our tea cups.

Looking forward to the end of the month for the next instalment but until then I'm on a strict diet!
