Collared Dove in Flight
On Saturday we went to catch up with some friends near Cambridge before going to a reunion for one of the race teams I used to work with in the evening. We went for a walk around Wicken Fen. Unfortunately the sail wind pump had been damaged by the recent storms and so there was no chance of that iconic shot, there were however reeds, Highland cattle, and Konik ponies. It was good to enjoy a walk in the sunshine. We sat outside for lunch near the bird feeders and this collared dove made a good subject for my birdie blip of the weekend.
The evening was fun, though tinged with sadness, as we were reunited to support the widow of one of our team mates who sadly passed away just before Christmas. The bond between the members of a race team is incredibly strong, it's hard to describe to those who haven't been a part of one. That strength of feeling was there last night, even though it's been a good few years since we were last together. It's "Cushty's" memorial tomorrow at Silverstone. Hoping the weather will be as nice as it has been today for his final lap of the circuit and the scattering of his ashes.
