Wakehurst Place in Early Spring

The whole world was here today and it was as well that we had lunch elsewhere before visiting as food here is extremely expensive! However, this is unfortunately likely to be our final ever visit. Car parking charges of £2 for 1 hour, £5 for 2 hours, and £10 for a whole day are being introduced in April. Only those who purchase a full day ticket, Friends Of Kew members, or a season ticket (£30 in cash, £25 by direct debit) are exempt from this. The site is owned by the National Trust and leased from them by The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. You have been warned! Open every day except 24-25 December, the public have lost a valuable resource for relaxation, education and much else besides unless you have plenty of money!

We walked round the gardens and this view shows the 17th Century mansion and some of the shrub beds. The Heather "Springwood White" is in the foreground and the rear of the mansion can be seen beyond.

At least the weather was good as it has been all weekend and everyone had a chance to enjoy it.

RIP Wakehurst Place.
