Thistle Down

The Farm

I went to visit on the farm,
The back-yard had a bench.
Grandpa yelled...for me to bring,
The screw-driver and the wrench.

The pig-pen took in all the pond,
It had a weeded trail.
Grandpa's voice was loud and clear,
O bring a hammer, and a nail.

A manger held on to the fence,
And horses went to paw.
Grandpa called for me to bring,
The bridle and the saw.

The chicken-coop was leaning some,
At night...the old-hen's sit.
Grandpa called for me to go,
And bring his brace-n-bits.

I'm telling you, I picked those tools,
Of which...I wasn't sure.
And by the time I left the farm,
Some things I knew, that I had never
known before.
