The cruel sea.

Living on a 'remote' island bit us on the bottom today.

Gail had a hospital appointment this morning and had been telling me for at least a week that something would prevent her getting to it. Mostly she assumed that it would be my fault. I have plenty of experience in the field so I was not offended. 'Hippocrates' is very low on fuel for starters!

Orkney Ferries phoned at half past seven to say that they'd had to cancel the boat. Instead they were running one in the afternoon. There were no places on the plane either. Cue changing appointment times, re-booking onto the later boat, arranging overnight accommodation and ripping up the plans for the day.

We made it. We're here and I think that we deserve a proper Italian pizza and some Nastro Azzuro Peroni beer. (Some Limoncello too, I suspect!)

This is a view to the South from the Earl Sigurd just before the Galt Skerry bouy. It's a beautiful, sunny day but the sea state was still a bit choppy. The wee boat in the foreground(ish) is the kreel boat 'Michael J'.
