Old Bridge House
I don't like going into the cinema in the daylight and coming out into the dark, especially on a day as beautiful as today. But the tickets were booked and paid for some time ago, so off to the cinema we went.
Walking along the Nith, I took some lovely photos of the river and reflections, but then my eye was caught by the recently restored walls of Old Bridge House. This house, now a museum, was built in 1660. In the 18th century it was an inn, and later became a family home. Made of sandstone like many buildings in Dumfries, it has been altered over time, as you can see here from the former arch, now filled in and a smaller window added later on.
Entry to the museum is free and inside you can see a wealth of historical artefacts including a recreation of an old dentist's surgery.
The film we went to see, by the way, was "August : Osage County". I was bowled over by the acting from Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.
