The Long Walk Home

A late one for all of our learners today. We had a long and productive afternoon getting our points ready for meeting the Cabinet Secretary for Lifelong Learning at the Scottish Parliament.

He spent an hour with them and they were pleased to tell their stories, but they did miss out on saying some of the things they wanted to because of the format, I think. I know this because we went for tea afterwards, and now they can't wait for the next session.

We had learners from colleges, universities, the voluntary sector, community learning, ESOL and the STUC all there to make their points about adult learning and have their say about the new statement of ambition for adult learning.

It was harder for some people to make their points because they were nervous about speaking out in the parliament. So I'm advised that there are still over 20 points that we need to raise, I think we should write them up and send them to the Cab Sec he was very interested in what the learners had to say.

This is some of my weary group going home.
