Cairngorm plateau
At last, after all the bad weather of this winter, we had as near perfect a day as you could imagine. I went up to Cairngorm with the thought that I might ski tour but in the end I left the skis behind. Glad I did really as there had been quite a snow melt over the weekend and conditions were quite icy so I rediscovered the joys of cramponing across the plateau. As well as meeting lots of people and taking lots of photographs there were ptarmigan doing their springtime stuff, snow bunting, grouse and a mountain hare. The day ended with a drive back to Inverness with a fab sunset, a pizza with Soloh and a friend and an evening at the cinema to see the Book Thief - highly recommended but a bit sad. You can see other pics here.
