Leithiopia

The Vintage Bar were celebrating their first birthday today and as it has become one of my regular haunts since it opened it was only appropriate I posted something from the celebrations, their subdued lighting makes it difficult to get a decent image and it was crowded. So here's a snapshot of one of their beer tap labels. This is a one-off beer that was made by the chaps at Pilot Brewery with the help of The Vintage, they're a new brewery based here in Leith, started brewing in November 2013. They worked with the Vintage to come up with this beer. It was surprisingly nice, a fairly soft pale beer but well rounded, maybe a little bland flavoured for my taste but certainly quaffable :-)

"The Vintage provided foraged ingredients for the brew which included scurvy grass (a bitter herb with a horseradish kick), laver (a type of seaweed), crab apples; black loveage; sea buckthorn and juniper branch."
