Tree Starting To Flower

We have a tree in our front garden that gets covered in pink blossom - it seems to be coming early this year. The leaves are (or will be ) a reddish brown colour.

We understood it to be a flowering cherry tree, and it does indeed grow some small black cherry / plum like fruit - although not very many.

However, last time it was pruned we were told it wasn't a cherry - and the guy gave us a name which we can't remember. The nursery label has long gone so we can't see the variety.

For this shot I tried to isolate the blossom from the twigs in the background - and I had to turn down the blue saturation as the sky was so vivid today
