Ghost Signs

A little while ago I posted a photo of a freshly restored Bile Beans sign in York and I mentioned there was a similar one in Hunslet, Leeds.

Well this is it! What a contrast.

If you look carefully you can see the remains of at least one other painted sign, although it is not clear if Bile Beans was painted over this other sign or vice versa. I can't quite make out what the other sign reads - although it looks as though it may be BEANS, so maybe it was also an advert for Bile Beans in a different style.
