Doha Days

The Holy Day here is marked in many ways. For the Islamic faithful it is the day of devout and frequent prayer. For the Christians it is marked as if it were a Sunday at home with Sunday services on a Friday. For many of the Indians it is a day for playing test match cricket on waste ground with as much intensity as if they were at Lord's itself ! For us it was a chance to chill on the corniche again. To lunch in the souk and to engage with an amazing reverse graffiti workshop in the afternoon. Home for a swim and a stunning piece of contemporary BBC Radio Drama Dividing the Union featuring our old friend David Jackson Young in fascinating insight into the first meeting between First Minister and Prime Minister post a Yes Vote.

My blip was taken in the Souk at lunchtime as the world here slowly woke up after all the holyness. I think this man might be a veteran Qatari whose face really speaks volumes of consternation at the incomprehensible pace of change here during his lifetime.
