A Little Knowledge

This statue is of Elizabeth Crichton the founder of the the Crichton Royal Hospital in Dumfries. Her husband Dr James Crichton left her a substantial sum of money to found a college, but due to opposition at the time she eventually opened the Crichton Royal Hospital.

She must have been looking down on the site, when in 1995 the Crichton Development Company began redeveloping it to house a University Campus among other things.
