0804 to Leeds

"It's a mash-up of Carnaby Road and Portobello Street."
"It makes perfect sense when you've said that. How many of you are there?"
"Five of us in total"
"Is that the ideal number for a band do you think?"
"Yeah, it suits us, especially as three of us can do vocals as well"
"Any artistic differences?"
"Hah! Not yet."

This is Luke, and he is the lead vocal in a five-piece rock 'n' roll band by the name of Carnabells. You may have guessed that last bit from his hairstyle, however.

I saw Luke at the bottom end of town but the first few pics I took of him didn't turn out well due to the sun back-lighting the shot so I asked if he would be willing to move to a better lit area. He kindly agreed, and we walked up to the centre, chatting as we went.

Luke told me about his band, the imagining of the name and what part each member played. Since he said there were five of them, I asked whether it was the right number and if they had had any artistic differences. It seemed that five is the ideal number for their type of band, with three of them being able to sing making their sound stronger. Having listened to them on YouTube, I have to agree.

He told me about their recent UK tour and whether I would be willing to come take pictures for their homecoming Leeds gig in April. I can't make it that night unfortunately, but said I'd definitely like to see them live so took his details and said I'd see him soon.

Thanks to everyone for their views and comments on my blip last night. I was informed that I 'hit the Spotlight' (whatever that means) and that is only testament to your loyal following - thank you!

I'll leave you with 'Magazine Dream' by the Carnabells - enjoy.
