Day 4 - Bangkok - Chiang Rai - Chiang Khong
4.30 alarm call for 5am breakfast, it took 5 of us to get the toaster conveyor working to toast, double sided!
off to BKK airport for our 8am fought with Thai Air, short flight to Chiang Rai then transferred to the golden triangle - our driver put on his 'hard rock' CD which included those well know rock classics Last train to London by ELO and YMCA by the village people!,
we visited Wat Phra That Pukhao (climbed up many steps and saw the ruins and other temple buildings then down and and had lunch in a restaurant by the river then visited the opium museum, walked to the Giant Buddha and lit some incense sticks.
On to Wat Chedi Luang (under reconstruction!) where we saw a number of different Buddha statues, and a monk giving a blessing then on to Huasai Man viewpoint.
Drive onto Chiang Khong where some of us took a pre dinner walk along by the river before we had dinner on the hotel decking.. Very slow service and hit and miss in terms of good quality - mine fine, those going for less traditional dishes suffering with their results!
