Singapore Skyline from the Flyer!!

We got to the hotel late last night and were in bed by midnight. Bearing in mind the 5hr time difference between Auckland and Singapore, we had been on the go for 24 hrs.

We are at the Fairmont, just across the road from Raffles!!! The young lady at the flight centre who booked our flights and hotels in Sydney and Singapore, said that we might need something “nice” after all the motels along the way. Well she has certainly got good taste....it is very nice!!! We are on the 20th floor and look in to the Raffles Hotel complex. Hate to think what it cost, but as it was paid for months ago...who cares!!!

We are adjacent to Rafffles City shopping centre and can access the food area (dozens of small eateries in the basement) from the hotel, so that is where we had breakfast. It also has many floors of shops, a retail therapy bonanza!!!

It is six years since we last visited so we headed for the Singapore Flyer, similar to the London Eye, to get a birds eye view of the new developments and land expansion. The white buildings on the left of the blip were not here last time. Its interesting to re-orientate with the landscape and workout where we want to go on land.

Lunch from the stalls at the Flyer, a 1960's themed food street, which reminded B of the food he ate from the street vendors when he was here back in the late '60's!!

Then on to one of our walk-abouts looking for old haunts. We got as far as Raffles Landing stage when it started to rain. We took shelter a couple of times as there was a massive thunderstorm, but then just went for it, put on the waterproofs, got out the brolly and got soalked!!!!!

Back to the hotel to dry out and plan what we will do this evening when the rain stops!!!
