Rainbow over Sauchiehall Street.
We are in Glasgow for a mini break for our anniversary which is on Saturday.
The journey was quite pleasant through the Yorkshire and Cumbrian countryside to Carlisle where we changed trains and the rain set in.
Luckily as we arrived in Glasgow it had cleared and we made our way to our central
'Lodge' hotel just off Sauchiehall Street. We were a bit disconcerted when we were given room 101! But at least it wasn't far to walk even if it has one of the worst views we have ever had and we have had some! Not complaining really these two days are just a tag on to our stay on Saturday at somewhere rather posh courtesy of Grace and John. It is very central and within minutes of checking in we were having tea and cake in the Willow Tea Rooms.
We then had a wander down to Buchanan Street to pass a bit of time before our tour of The Glasgow School of Art which we had pre booked and was also quite nearby.
Unfortunately the heavens opened for a very heavy if brief downpour. Walking back up Sauchiehall Street I heard someone exclaim 'Look at that' so turned round to see this rainbow against the dark sky.
By now, fortunately, the sun was out again and we continued to our tour. I have been before with Grace but Chris hasn't and it was as excellent as the first time. Sadly you are not allowed to take photographs inside so I have gone with this rainbow which seems to end in John Lewis. So that must be where the pot of gold is!
Off out for a drink now and to find somewhere to eat. Could be snowing tomorrow!
(I will post some more Glasgow pictures later as the wifi is a bit slow.)
