Our first hitchhike
Had another great sleep and were ready to head to Pakse which is further south. The bus trip was fine and we arrived on time. When we arrived at the bus station there was 9 white travellers all wanting to get a Tuk Tuk into Pakse town. We had researched how much this was prior to arriving and knew it was only 10,000 kip per person and so we told everyone. The driver wanted double and so we refused to pay, which is how it works but you get those gimps who do not care how much it is and agree to pay. This really annoys the life out of me as now we cannot haggle on the correct price.
So me being my usual tight self decided we would just walk the 10km until we bumped into this mad German man who had hitch hiked all the way around Asia. The three of us started walking down the road and within 5 mins we had hitched a ride half the way. We just jumped into the back of the pick up truck and were on our way. It was such a good laugh and the German was telling us his stories of travelling. The journey sounded fun but he had missed out so much of the actual sight seeing that I would not have enjoyed it. We were dropped off at the side of the road and within another 5 mins we had our second lift all the way into Pakse. The person who picked us up dropped us at a guesthouse that was under construction and so we just stayed there.
After having a shower we went out for an Indian dinner that was really good and we had craved one for so long. Off to bed as were leaving here the next day as this place is like a ghost town.
