Konglor cave
Up early and managed to get Alex and his scooter on the 7am bus to Tha Khek. As soon as he was on myself and Alison had 100km to make up for yesterday. We arrived in Konglor by about 9am and enjoyed an alright breakfast in a stunning location. The whole point of this 3 day trip was to reach the Konglor cave which is 7.5km long.
We got our guide and were on our way through the cave in a boat and it was a truly amazing experience. At one point he had to ramp his boat up a small waterfall which was like James Bond .Along the way we had to exit the boat and push it, as it's dry season and the river is not in full flow. This of course just added to the adventure and I've never seen such a large cave in my life. It was about 30m high and 30 wide at points.
When you reach the end of the cave you come out into lush tropical forest that just looks absolutely stunning. After a while we arrived at a small village and picked up some old Laos locals who wanted to go home. They struggled with getting through the cave so myself and Alison gave the old dears a hand. The adventure back through was just as much fun as the way in, we ramped down the same waterfall which was great fun. At the end of the trip we carried the ladies bags back to the start for them, they were so happy and couldn't stop thanking us.
We jumped back on our motorbike and headed for Tha Khek which was about 200km away!! It didn't take us that long but we both still had really sore bums from the ride. When we arrived we grabbed our bags and checked back into the Mekong hotel. It was an amazing sunset and we got some great photos of Alison stood by the river. A quick dinner then bed as nizzy was exhausted. Great 3 days and I would definitely recommend anyone to do it, but be careful the roads are dangerous.
