Arizona to Nevada

A lot of empty
miles to go, zooming by Sin

We did a quick overnight, our last in Arizona for a while. Wifi seems to be an unreliable add on at many RV parks. I don't why they bother advertising wifi on their websites because it is so iffy sometimes, it's not worth the frustration to even try using it. The park either doesn't provide enough bandwidth to meet the demand or they don't put out antennae to extend coverage over the whole park. Last night was a perfect example. From 5 to 9 PM it was impossible to connect at all. At 4 AM it was running beautifully but at 9 AM not a chance to use it!

We had a late breakfast at the casino in Searchlight, Nevada. My breakfast burritos were really good – scrambled eggs, onions, bacon and cheese inside a flour tortilla with sour cream and salsa on top. If you can hold your breath at the entrance way to avoid the cigarette smoke, the casino restaurant, anywhere, is usually worth the visit. This casino is bit ragged around the edges. D got to sit on the side of the booth with the duct tape on the seat cushion. I like to walk by the slot machines to see the wooden Indian and his cowboy friend.

Further down the road, when we stopped for gas, I found the elusive Krispy Kreme donuts I've been searching for since I left home in October. I chose a plain glazed donut for 99 cents and a small cup of crullers for $1.99. The single disappeared really fast. The cup will be treats for tomorrow.

It's been just a day of driving. Miles and miles of desert landscape all around us. We got past Las Vegas without incident. The weather continues to be very pleasant. We've lost the big heat of southern Arizona as we head north and rise in elevation. Today we saw a high of 72 Fahrenheit, just a pleasant 'summer day' to me.

We arrived in Mesquite, Nevada mid afternoon. After setting up the trailer, we tried the TV reception (very good) and the internet connection. (non-existent at the time) About 5 PM I walked down to the office to find out why the wifi wasn't delivering. The lady in the office, with a straight face, told me it 'must be really busy right now'. It's a nice RV park but the wifi sucks and will be duly noted in my online review when we leave.
