Violoncello

Some friends have invited me to a concert at Basingstoke tonight. (A 'well done for saving your neighbours life' gift!) (See March 11th blip for details, if you want to!!)
This unusual Violoncello da spalla appeared by the early 16C and was the forerunner to the cello, but it is played like a giant violin.
The concert is The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the player, Sigiswald Kuijken is trying to revive the instrument.
