Gaelic Galore

We were at the CCA in Glasgow tonight for the launch of Willie Campbell's new album, Dalma, at Ceol's Craic.
This shows Willie - in the hat - with his cousin Duncan.
They're singing a Gaelic version of the hymn, Nearer My God to Thee. This version is inspired by cult mid-20th century US country duo, The Louvin Brothers.
The hymn has travelled from the Home Counties to the Deep South and back across the Atlantic to the Hebridean island of Lewis, where Willie was born and bred. He is back living there with his wife and young family.
All this came through in this version.
It's one of my favourite tracks on the album, which mixes up melodic pop with cooler soul-searching.
Willie used to be the frontman with a band called Astrid.
Seek out Dalma on iTunes. Also on Willie Campbell's own website. I don't have the Gaelic but in many ways it doesn't matter. It's universal music.
