Just a Little Tarn

We left Te Anau this morning and headed to Mavora Lakes.  These two lakes are inland off the Te Anau Mossburn highway, some 40 km on a no exit road.  But totally worth chewing dust on the gravel roads. The two lakes are so beautiful, very picturesque with camping spots amongst the beech forest or amongst the golden grasses.  Wonderful spot for fishing and with no power boats allowed there was a sense of tranquility. We walked over a swing bridge and meandered through the beech forest around the edge of the lake for a bit, so pretty and so hot too.

This isn't the Mavora Lakes but a little tarn that took my eye as we drove there, I did love the sky.

We are now with friends on a tiny farmlet close to Clyde for a couple of nights and intend doing the bike trail through the Roxburgh Valley along the banks of the Clutha River tomorrow.  Should be good....45 km I think.

Thanks so much for all the comments, favourites etc for Mitre Peak....I was surprised to see it reach the top four in Spotlight.....thanks :)
