At the Railway Raceway

The exterior view of yesterday's blipfoto here...

Yesterday was a contemplative and pleasant afternoon spent with a friend. Per another friend I was invited by ESL students to a celebratory picnic today at Recreation Lake. I learned the lake is made out of the hole made from excavating sand and fill for the construction of the adjacent Dukes Highway. It may be an intrusion on the students' privacy to publish any of the lovely photographs I have of them.

My friend is a keen amateur photographer so after the picnic she and I as an example enjoyed discovering the Railway Raceway (alongside the railway line) and found the gate of the Showground was open. Here is a photo of the corrugated iron Apex tearooms that has been furnishing weary rural show goers with famous scones-and-cake morning and afternoon teas for numbers of years and is no longer serviceable.

Beside the tearoom is an amazing gum tree that is pink at the moment.

We wondered what the tree is at the entrance to the Showgrounds.

Have a safe and happy week, dear friends.

UPDATE: Blippers, I changed the photo because I uploaded not the one I intended but another by accident as they all look the same as a thumbnail these deep red dirt photos of the raceway. I am sorry and I have included links to some photos I uploaded to Flickr of interest regarding the look and culture of this rural Australian township.
