Birds Eye Primrose

Primula farinosa

Widespread in the alps and beyond, it is also found on wet, calcareous grassland and bare soils in limestone areas of the Pennines. It's an easy plant to raise from seed but needs careful placing in the garden. I have grown it in troughs where I can more easily keep an eye on it.

All parts of the plant are covered in mealy farina which give the plant it's Latin name. The flower in the picture is about 1cm across.
