Delhi - Salaam Baalak Trust contact centre
We've arrived..let the adventures begin!
Following a fairly hectic introduction to Delhi the day before, we decided to throw ourselves even further into the mix and take a walk down the Main Bazaar today to find the Salaam Baalak Trust. This is a charity which offers toured walks around the city by a former Delhi street child. Our guide, Anil, showed us first hand what life is like for inner-city homeless kids.
We thought it was a great way to see a different side of Delhi and allowed us to give something back to the city as well as learning about the lives of street children. Back at the shelter we met with a few of the street children who were eager to show us the drawings they had made that day.
The photo is Cathy talking to one of the street kids about Maths - I refrain from using the word 'teaching' here as the 12 year old kid was learning about quadratic equations, I'm sure this A-level standard from long forgotten 9am classes!
