Taj Mahal, bitesize
Today we had a very early start at 4:45am to catch the morning train to Agra, home of the Taj Mahal...
We're still quite jet-lagged so the wake up call wasn't too painful, as we were already awake, and the train journey was smooth and not the cattle packed journey we expected. We were also easily able to pick up a rickshaw outside the station at Agra to get to the hotel.
Autorickshaws...phew, a journey on these aren't for the fainthearted as they weave in and out of the traffic, with no real recognition of any road markings, signals or other (larger) vehicles on the road, apart from the constant HONK HONK to warn other drivers. Great fun!
So Taj Mahal was our agenda today and it was quite surreal to see this memorial up close, having read about it in our school history books as kids! It was everything we had imagined, with the blue sky as the backdrop and the sun setting as we sat and watched from the gardens. Yummy.
