Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Today has been a day of blustery showers and sunshine. The wind was extremely strong which limited photographic opportunities somewhat as use of a tripod was out of the question. At times it was hard to stand.

This peninsula is beautiful with dramatic volcanic landscapes and pretty little churches like the one in this photo.

There is a particularly striking volcano on the tip of the peninsula called Snæfellsjökull. It's a bit odd that it has a similar name to Snaefell on the Isle of Man. I wonder if there is any connection. I expect there is as the Vikings moved over there.

I had hoped to publish an aurora picture tonight but heavy cloud cover has come over and is predicted to stay until we leave unfortunately.
