Mad Dogs and Chilly Photographers

This is a grrreat time of year to get up early altho it was getting a trifle chilly and The Boss opted for his extra curls this morning and wore his jeans and a thicker sweat.
You see stuff at this time that simply is not there an hour later and there are only mad dogs, runners and chilly photographers about to annoy or distract you. It is way too early for tourists and often there is not a breath of wind either. This is the time of year that the “Godwits” leave town. These are the folk that come to Wanaka for less than 187 days a year. That’s the time you can stay without being considered a NZ Tax resident. We have quite a few of these folk and we always look forward to them arriving bark in September/ October direct from countries that are getting chillier like the USA, Canada and The UK and we miss them when they go bark to sno drifts and log fires. I have never enjoyed a real log fire. We have a Gas one and due to superior engineering the floor does not get any direct heat at all. They need some dogs and cats on the design team. Did I say CATS!!!.... Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Dear. Better wash my mouth out with cheese.
The Boss would like to play Reverse Godwit and go somewhere like Canada and live there for longer than a holiday. Unfortunately he has two problems and I am only the small and easily distracted one.
