Crown of the Major. Leitz Elmar-V 65mm, BellowsII
This Blip is a continuation of yesterday's thread: My late father rose to the rank of Major in the R.A.M.C. during WWII. This is the insigne from his uniform denoting his rank. Where would we be without Wikipedia?! I learn that this crown used from 1910 until EII's coronation in 1953 is fashioned after a version of the Imperial State Crown worn by George V. The brass casting is substantial and the little flash of red velvet showing through the metal is a nice touch if a bit worn after nearly 75 years.
