Asparagus
A photo for those who can appreciate how fortunate a person is to have an asparagus patch in their garden.
We gave up our asparagus patch when we left Wyoming in 2005.
Last summer we started a brand new patch with five plants.
As we departed for our vacation two weeks ago only two of the plants had shown signs of life.
One of our first thoughts on returning from Florida was to check on these plants.
Today we were thrilled to find that all five plants are pushing up spears.
Like a much loved pet, these plants give much more than they take.
Now that they are a year old we can harvest some of the bounty they provide.
In my mind, fresh asparagus ranks right up there with expensive chocolate on the deliciousness scale.
