Life...
...can be so unfair.
Last Thursday, I received a call to let me know that a friend from college had died suddenly. At 45 he was way too young. Married with four young children, he had far too much to live for.
He was one of the good guys. He gave so much of himself to others and never hesitated to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. I can't remember a cross word passing between us (which is a lot more than can be said for the rest of the college gang) and both his sense of humour and laugh were infectious.
As happens over time the gang all kinda lost touch with each other but we still got together every once in a while. This year I misplaced his new address following a phone upgrade that blitzed my texts. A busy lead up to Christmas meant my intended text to get it again never happened and the card remained unsent. Not to worry since we were getting together at the end of April for a Neil Finn gig. I would get it then. Yesterday we all attended his funeral with a vow to get together after Easter.
Life is precious and time... well who knows how much any of us has.
Rest well my friend. You will be missed. My thoughts are with those you left behind and loved you most of all.
