A present from Cumbria
Lichen, Hypogymnia physodes ?, on twig picked up from ground close to Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria last week and photographed today in my 'studio' — or study or cycle room, or place to which I escape when under pressure….
I have collected lichen photographs for about a year now, and feel that I only have to go on for about 50 more years to attain anything approaching certainty with my identifications. One ? means I am fairly sure but not certain. Two ?? means I think it possibly may be… Three ??? means I haven't the foggiest!
But I like them, and am hoping some day to find something really rare or fantastically beautiful! Of course, what I really need is a tame expert living nearby. Any offers? Inverurie, Aberdeenshire is my current home.
