Back to Auld Claes and Porridge
"Back to Auld Claes and Porridge" was what my mother always said when we came back from holiday. I thought it appropriate as today is Mothers' Day (not that she'd have approved of commercialised nonsense), and also, we are back from our ski trip - here's the first load of washing on the pulley. (Auld Claes is Scottish dialect for old clothes). No porridge today though - I prefer muesli and natural yogurt with a cup of espresso for my breakfast.
It is a dreich day so we are indulging ourselves with total dossing. I don't feel too bad about being lazy as we've had a very active week. My knees are still complaining. I'm going to be reading yesterday's Guardian, doing the crossword, parcelling up birthday gifts to be sent off, filling in forms regarding my speeding offence and then I'll be knitting a new jacket for Ella. Mr C is watching motor racing. He is being very considerate - he is wearing headphones so that I don't have to hear the incessant "vroom vroom".
