Gay on Mothers' Day!

These colourful macaroons were on sale at the weekly Wolvercote Farmers' Market. We ate one stuffed with roasted black sesame seeds with our coffee: absolutely delicious!

It was a bit of a special day at the market this week in order to mark and celebrate Mothers' Day. I have appended a message from the Market Bookings Co-ordinator to indicate what was on offer this week.

Some aspects made it seem as though offspring were catered for more than mothers!

There are some additional photographs that I took to give an idea of the excellent produce available and that I thought I would try to share with you.

Outside, we found Italian goodies, including gluten free pasta (for a friend of my spouse), oils, and the like.

And the Italian theme continued indoors with this Nocciolina. It is a (very) superior take on Nutella, made with hazlenuts and honey from Piedmont.

We bought some cheese from a local maker after an interesting tasting. In the photo you see both soft and hard cheeses from sheep milk.

Here is rustic bread,

and more rustic bread!

On another stall, we found marmalades and jams, and various other conserves ...

... and. talking of marmalades, on our return home, we found this new friend (never seen before) waiting to greet us in our driveway. A gorgeous colour!

Hello!

On her cake stall, eager to please children will have the chance to decorate a cupcake for mum - just £1 for the cake and decorations. The stall will also be selling: Green and Blacks Chocolate Brownies, Flour-less Chocolate nest cakes filled with Raspberries, Pavlova cakes with Cointreau infused fruits, Carrot Cakes and Baked Vanilla Cheesecake! Carla will have some gift-wrapped ready for presentation.

Continuing the sweet theme...Rumba Churros are back! Look out for their colourful stand outside where they'll be serving up their delicious fresh Spanish churros with thick chocolate sauce. A great treat not just for your beloved mothers but yourself too! For the total chocaholic Chocsford will have all the usual favourites plus some specials for Mothers Day. Make sure to nip by - they always offer a taster.

Over at Crudges Cheese their famous heart-shaped goats cheese make a return whilst Crissel's Kitchen aim to give busy mums a day off from cooking. Their new Spring menu includes smoked haddock chowder; Garden vegetable risotto; Pea, mint and pancetta risotto; Feijoada (Brazillian stew) and Ricotta and spinach cannelloni.

Beyond these are all your great quality, locally and lovingly produced basics: bread, eggs, veg, fruit, meat and cheese.

Two apologies this week: Wild Venison could not attend last week due to lack of meat this far on in the season. They will return in October. Secondly, our advertised flower stall has had to drop out this week due to all her flowers having been already sold for Mother's Day! Sorry to disappoint.
