Diving

I woke up to the very unfamiliar sound of RAIN!! Since the start of January we have only experienced one other time when the rain came trickling down. This time though was a full on rain storm that lasted for a few hours. We got our waterproofs on and headed for the port to catch the boat to Koh Rong which is 2 hours 30 mins away. When on board we realised this boat also went to Koh Rong Paloum which is where we were trying to get to in the first place so we just got off here. This is a tiny little village with about 100 people max.

We found a place to stay called easy tiger which is owned by two young English guys. It's still very much under construction but it's got some nice bungalows and a good group of people staying here. There is no running water on the island so a shower involves a bucket and a cup. It was decided that we wouldn't do our advanced course here as it is rather pointless unless you want to go dive master. We are doing a fun dive this afternoon and then a deep dive tomorrow morning.

The fun dive was pretty good but the visibility was pretty poor and the marine life was less than Koh Tao. At the end of the dive I got in the boat and wasn't really impressed until someone spotted a massive jelly fish a few metres from the boat!! I put my snorkel and mask on and jumped straight in!! It was so cool and had small fish inside that you could see when it breathed. I've never seen anything like this and it totally made my dive so much better.

We came back and had a water fight (a shower) and then headed out for some dinner. We went to a really nice place called sunset cafe which is visually stunning and delivered some great curry. It was back to the hostel for a beer and a chat with the rest of the group and time for bed. There's no fan or AC in the room but as it's next to the sea it's pretty cool.
