Back to Cape Town
Today has been a great relief in a number of ways. I saw the surgeon again this morning and he removed lots of stitches and the nose plugs. He did a new scan to check how all the surgery and re-alignment had worked and pronounced himself to be reasonably pleased, but also gave me a realistic view of possible ongoing problems. It was amazing to view a 3D rotating scan of my skull and see the various bits of metal holding things together.
We then got a one-hour flight from George back to Cape Town. As we approached CT, my view of the mountains was stunning. Here you can see the Franschhoek valley (where we were enjoying wonderful food and wine less than 2 weeks ago) with the Berg reservoir and dam and the spectacular mountains of the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve in the foreground. It's now great to be back in Cape Town with our little grandson for a few days.
