Olly.

This is our pet ostrich, Olly. He can be quite shy and likes to hide in bushes and shrubs.
I haven't mentioned him before as we had to get permission from the Immigration and Health Authorities to keep him in our garden, and that only came through yesterday.
A couple of years ago, a friend brought us back an ostrich egg from South Africa.
We assumed it was an ornament so we put it in our conservatory.
Well, the heat in there must have helped incubate the egg and you can imagine our surprise when it hatched!
To begin with, we fed him baby milk, then grass and shrubs.
He gets to run around our garden for 2 - 3 hours a day.
Ostriches, or Rolf Polia to give them their Latin name, can live for up to 45 years. They can run at speeds of more than 40 m.p.h.
Olly is quite a friendly chap except when he is hungry and then he is a pain in the neck!!
This track is for him.
P.S. I really did take this photo in our garden this morning.
