Roche Rock, nr St Austell,

On top of Roche Rock is a ruined chapel (dedicated to St Michael in 1409). However in more recent times the rock has been associated with evil. It starred briefly in the horror film The Omen.....

We started our grand journey coming here 1st. It was raining so we didn't walk to it. We drove around to the other side of the granite outcrop where we came across a big police operaration taking place. There was a speed trap on the St Austell road but I don't think I have seen so many officers in one place !

From here we motored on to St Austell where we got hopelessly lost. We parked up in Homebase car park to get our bearings !! Took a quick detour to Mevagissey before returning & travelling on to Newquay. We have been here many times before & we've always said we would visit the Aquarium some time. As it was dark & grey we decided to go & it was really good, with lots of fish I have never seen before, including sharks, turtles & even caimen !!

From here we ventured on towards Padstow. We stopped at The Cornish Arms in St Merryn which is a Rick Stein pub. We had a great meal here before returning to the pad by 2000hrs.

A tiring day but a good trip.

Its been dark and dingy today with periods of rain but it has been mild.
