Roof lichen

Started today at Okere Falls store, a quirky cafe - their crepes with blueberries and raspberries were delicious. And yes I did get tempted with some speciality foods.
Then to Matamata and its Historical Village. Matamata's other claim to fame is being Hobbit Town a film set in 'The Lord of the Rings'.
The Historical Village includes a school (occasionally used by current school classes), a jail ( the convict so realistic he made me jump), post office/ telephone exchange, an old church (still used for weddings), sheds of period machinery (potato diggers, harvesters, movie projectors, tractors), a couple of train carriages. A farm cottage, and the big villa (Firths home packed with history and period items); And also Firths Tower a four storey folly. The roof and lichen is taken from the top of the tower. The odd pattern at the top of the photo are pavers below.

Great to catch up with my cousin and wife, keen historians. Lots of travel and more family tomorrow. Forgive me if I can not respond to your blips over the next couple of days. Really looking forward to meeting Miffy another blipper
