Rannachan

Everything seems to be piling up at the desk just now and I have been unable to capitalise on a couple of highly efficient site days in order to catch up a bit.
Our two hour trip home on Tuesday took more like four because of the extended road closure and today I arrived at the desk mid afternoon to a power cut so I couldn’t get any data downloaded or early stage processing started.
I routinely do wee favours for clients. Some client offices only carry very basic 2D cad software and they revert to us many months (or years) later after the project asking for me to extract 3d data over a specific section of the site we have surveyed. While it is true we can do these exercises relatively swiftly the project files need digging out, I then need to get my head round what they are after and then I can produce the data they need. It can take a couple of hours to do a ten minute job if you know what I mean. An accumulation of these can amount to a Saturday forenoon batch of work (favours). On top of the bread and butter work I have a couple of these exercises pending too and it is particularly stressful turning round to these guys and saying that they will have to wait till the current contract work is concluded.
(They all go home at six and don’t think about work till the following morning yet seem happy for me to work over the weekend or a late mid-week evening.)

My goodness I’m tired and these favour prompting emails don’t help.
