I'm in heaven....
There’s something about afternoon appointments (doctor, physio) that makes one easy prey for places like Paradis. I was walking past, glancing idly at the window display, when a strange force drew me inside. Where I was greeted by this charming young lady … who offered me a sample of their 70% cocoa dark chocolate, all the way from Belgium….and then introduced me to their macaroons – all gluten-free, of course. Well, I thought, it seems wrong not to buy something. Besides, HH would certainly like to try these. And so it was that half an hour later, we sat down to tea and ridiculously expensive (but delicious) macaroons. I might have to go back for their Easter eggs…
A visit from our friend Liza this morning, but bearing the sad news that they will be leaving after the World Cup. She and her husband are both journalists, and it seems that the world, or Europe, at least, is really not that interested in Brazil – there isn’t enough work to warrant their staying here. It’s really sad – they have thrown themselves heart and soul into the Brazilian experience, enjoying Christmas, New Year’s Eve on the beach and Carnaval to the full, and intend to go the whole hog for the World Cup too (well, Liza and the children will – she has decided not to take on any work then, but her husband will be flying all over the place).
