Our Field of Dreams

You can see from the path we have worn through it, that we have already made it our own, so we bought it yesterday. OilMan seems quite chuffed. He's already been up there twice today to survey his realm. Dana is still holding out for chickens, and we're all hoping that some day my brother and his wife will be able to build a house up there.
For the moment, however, the only building going on up there will be Peter and Gavin's tree house.

A very tall guy named Russ, with a little beard, a crew cut and Carhart overalls, has ridden to the rescue of our shower. He tore out the ill fated stones and grout, replaced the wallboard and waterproofing, and took our three unused pieces to make samples for our approval. This morning, he arrived at 7:30 to do a final touch up on caulking. Tomorrow he will moisture test everything, and if it passes, he will be back next week to install new stacked pebbles…again!

Russ is actually a man of few words, but they are in English and they are succinct and well chosen. He talks to himself and whistles while he works. Communication is everything. The trouble is, with big issues and small, we sometimes don't see where things went wrong until it's too late. The lessons learned on this project regarding communication have caused me to start thinking about how they could be applied to many situations.
